HDV News - Jan. 9th
Good morning HDV Swim Families,
Congratulations to all our swimmers on a great performance at last weekend’s meets.
On Friday, the team competed at the new Worthington Aquatics Facility. What a beautiful pool! Some of our swimmers had personal best times. Our girls placed third, a half-point ahead of Darby! The boys swam very well. On Saturday, we were at the Tree of Life Trojan Invitational. Once again, our team had a great meet. The girls placed 2nd.
Great swims, trophies, and medals are wonderful, but at the end of the day, how your swimmers interact as a team and the sportsmanship they show at competitions mean more than any trophy or medal. Your athletes consistently have good sportsmanship, include everyone, and treat everyone with respect. The coaches and I are so proud of your athletes.
Watterson Meet on Monday, January 12th I just found out that the district cannot provide a bus for our team to get us to the Columbus Aquatic Center in time for our 4:30 pm warm-up. We warm up from 4:30 pm - 4:50 pm. A bus is scheduled, but it can not pick up the team until 4:15 pm. Competition begins at 5:00 pm and will end at 6:00 pm. Unfortunately, we need to use parent drivers. Here are the guidelines.
- I have attached a travel form that all swimmers must complete, whether they are riding with a parent or driving themselves.
- Swimmers who are 18 years or older may drive themselves, but may not drive a teammate unless the teammate is a sibling.
- Any swimmer under 18 must ride with a team parent.
- Coaches may not drive the swimmers to and from the competition.
The meet is at the Columbus Aquatic Center 1160 Hunter Ave, Columbus, OH 43021 I would like to leave HDV at 3:45 pm. The team will change into their suits at HDV, so they are ready to warm up when we arrive. Please let me know if you can help with transportation. Please tell me how many swimmers you can have in your car in addition to your child. The Watterson coach asked if we can provide times. Please let me know if you can help.
Olentangy Berlin Invitational
Our bus will leave at 11:00 am. Swimmers should be at HDV at 10:45 am. Competition begins at 2:00 pm and ends approximately at 5:30 pm. The meet is at the Delaware YMCA, 1121 S. Houk Rd, Delaware, OH 43015 Swimmers should pack snacks/lunch and bring warm clothes to wear when they are not competing.
Practice Change With an afternoon meet on Monday, I decided to cancel the Morning practice.
Sub-Sale As you know, our sub-sale is underway. The swimmers are not required to sell subs, but all swimmers must participate on the day we assemble the subs. The sub-sale is an important fundraiser for our team. Please consider selling or donating.
Senior Night Our Junior parents, Dana Miller and Allison Jasper, are busy preparing to honor our Senior athletes on January 24th. It will be a terrific night. Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior parents, if you would like to help or donate, please contact Dana Miller or Allison Jasper.
