HDV News - Dec. 9th
Good morning, HDV Swim Families,
Our first meet is over, and our swimmers did a terrific job. We are proud of every one of them. For some of our team, it was the first time they were swimming at a college aquatic center with a large crowd and several teams. These swimmers were not rattled and swam well. Our focus for this meet was on something other than having personal best times. Instead, we asked the swimmers to focus on executing the things we have been focusing on in practice: stroke technique, good starts, attacking the turns, underwaters off the start, and every wall. We have posted the results from both A and B Flights on our website. Well done, team!
Thank You
- We extend our thanks to the Alsko, Wickham, and Martin families for their generous support in providing our team with nourishing breakfasts last week and this week. Your contribution has been instrumental in fueling our swimmers after training.

Congratulations
Today, we did a set called "Breakthroughs." The swimmers swam 8 x 100 @ 4:00. The goal was to hold a time that was within 3 seconds of their personal best 100 freestyle time. On the sixth 100, we did a get-out-of-practice swim. I had pre-selected one swimmer in each lane (the swimmers did not know who I selected). If two of the five swimmers hit the goal time, the entire team would be released from practice early. Congratulations to Penny Mathews and Austin Pflieger for breaking through the wall and hitting their goal time.
Have a great week!
Go CATS!
