HDV News - Dec. 1st
Good afternoon, HDV Swim Team Families,
I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday as it is a time to gather with friends, family, and others to share a meal and reflect on what we are grateful for. I have always considered it a privilege to serve as the head coach of the Hilliard Davidson Swim & Dive team. I am genuinely thankful for our coaching staff, Nick, Cheryl, and Mallory. They all have a heart for your swimmers and want to help them succeed in and out of the pool. I am thankful for our athletes. Each day I am on deck with them is a great day. Each one brings a different perspective and something positive to our swim family. I also want to express my gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication to our team. Your involvement is crucial to our success. I am thankful for the Hilliard YMCA and its staff: Patrick, Emerson, Chris, Jay, Michelle, Julie, Allison, and Carla. Through their efforts, they ensure the facility is clean, safe, open, and ready for our swimmers at 5:00 a.m. Finally, I am thankful to our athletic department, training staff, and boosters for their continued support of our program.
Thank Yous
- Thank you to the Knight and Bollinger families for providing our team with breakfast the last two Mondays.
- Thank you to the Hilliard Davidson Athletic Boosters for purchasing a VASA trainer for our team.
Bus Schedule
- I have attached the bus schedule for December. The Irish Relay meet is currently pending, but it is on the schedule. The departure times from competitions are approximate.
- We would like the team to arrive at HDV 15 minutes before our departure time. We leave from the field house parking lot, near door B7.
- When we depart from a competition, we have the team text you a return time. Please be on time to pick up your swimmer after a meet. The coaches wait with the team until every swimmer has been picked up or driven home themselves. We wait outside, and it is cold. The swimmers are wet and often do not have coats or hats.
Upcoming Meets
Ned Reeb
- The Ned Reeb Invitational is this Saturday, December 7th. The entry reports are attached.

I will be on deck for the A-Flight.
- For the B-Flight, we will have a bus to and from the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion. The bus will leave from the fieldhouse side of HDV promptly at 10:15 a.m. Swimmers should arrive at the HDV parking lot by 10:00 a.m.
- In addition to their swim bag, swimmers should bring a small lunch bag with snacks and a water bottle. Coolers, blankets, and pillows are not permitted. Swimmers do not need their equipment bags.
- Swimmers, we will not be resting or wearing tech suits for this meet.

- If your athletes' physical expires during our season, they will not be permitted to compete until a new physical is uploaded into Final Forms.
I have spoken with your swimmers about using positive self-talk when they face challenges in swimming, school, or life. I encouraged them to think, "I can" or "I'll try" instead of "I am not very good" or "This is too hard; I give up." This being said, I want to close with this thought. "Just one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day."Have a great week! Coach Lynn
